Quetta: Opposition parties in Balochistan will protest against the provincial government on Wednesday to demand action on their demands.
The protest, to take part outside the Chief Minister House, is a result of opposition’s demands that they be included in the budget formation process. Malik Sikander advocate, leader of the opposition in Balochistan Assembly, said that “Opposition parties were not taken into confidence, in fact opposition members were completely ignored during the budget process,” adding that all opposition parties had unanimously agreed to start protests against the governing alliance.
The opposition also decided that if demands were not met then public would be invited to start agitating as well. “We will not back off from our lawful and constitutional right to representation,” Malik Sikander said.
It is expected that Balochistan government will present the budget for 2020-21 on June 18. Expected to be in excess of 430 billion, the budget will reportedly have the largest allotment for Health due to the coronavirus pandemic.
